Meet Georgie – Realism Tattoo Artist
I’m Georgie — the artist behind George Tattooing. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, I grew up moving around the UK, including time in London, before returning to Scotland for my senior school years. I’ve been drawing for as long as I could hold a crayon. From those early scribbles, my talent was recognised quickly: I was identified as a gifted and talented student in the arts and offered scholarships in the UK. Art has always been my language — the way I process the world, capture emotion, and explore the boundaries between reality and imagination.
Before tattooing, I pursued a full art career. I focused on honing my drawing skills, creating murals, freelancing in design, and even working as an illustrator for published books. Skin wasn’t my first canvas, but it became the most permanent one.
My entry into tattooing wasn’t straightforward. Apprenticeships I applied for often didn’t think I “fit the part” of a traditional tattooist. When I did secure trial periods, they were rooted in old-school bikie tattooing values — environments that weren’t safe or supportive for me. I persevered through those challenges, learning what I could, then stepped out to guest with many of the incredibly talented tattooists Australia has produced. Guesting allowed me to absorb techniques, build skills, and find studios where I could finally feel safe and valued. That nomadic learning phase shaped my approach: respectful, collaborative, and always focused on the work.
Today, I specialise in realism, micro realism, fine line, surrealism, and large-scale black & grey pieces — drawing heavily from Renaissance masters like Caravaggio for dramatic light and shadow, classical European fine art for composition, and eastern motifs for symbolism. Each tattoo is a considered collaboration: your story interpreted through my lens, executed with precision and intention on skin as a living canvas.
In 2026, I relocated permanently to Cairns, Far North Queensland, basing myself at Dusk and Bloom Studio (license 4539335). The move aligns with my nomadic spirit — I’ve guest-spotted nationwide, appeared at expos like the NZ Tattoo & Arts Expo in New Plymouth, New Zealand, placed 2nd in Abstract at the South East Queensland Tattoo Expo, and am exhibiting in the Made to Suit Exhibition. As part of the Vaiderz Pro Team, I continue to evolve with high-quality tools and community.
Beyond skin, my art extends to prints, merch, and select collaborations. A highlight is my recent pendant with Tachibana Co. — the first collaboration with a female tattoo artist for the brand. It’s a reversible turtle/crane design in 925 silver/rhodium or 18kt gold plate, symbolising longevity, good fortune, and expressions of deep love (I created as a gift to my husband). It’s a small but meaningful way to carry symbolism close, rooted in the same thoughtful artistry I bring to tattoos.
My goal remains unchanged: to create work that endures — in meaning, quality, and impact. Whether it’s an intimate fine-line memorial or a sprawling large-scale composition, I approach every session with humility, respect, and unwavering focus. You can be yourself with me — this is a welcoming, judgment-free space built on trust and mutual respect.
If my work speaks to you, reach out via the bookings form, email georgetattooingau@gmail.com, or DM @georgetattooing. I guide ideas from initial concept through to fully healed tattoo, and I look forward to creating something lasting together.
Early Inspiration
From crayon days to being offered UK art scholarships, my foundation was built on classical drawing and illustration. Murals, freelance design, and published book illustrations honed the precision I now bring to every tattoo.
Path to Tattooing
Overcoming gatekeeping and unsafe environments, I persevered by guesting across Australia — learning from the country's best and finding spaces where I could thrive safely.
Current Style & Philosophy
Inspired by Renaissance drama and surreal dreamscapes, my work treats skin as canvas for timeless, meaningful art — always collaborative, always intentional.
Beyond the Skin
Extending the artistry: limited prints, merch, and meaningful collabs like the Tachibana Co. pendant, symbolising longevity and love.
